Despite the hardships I have endured, I have achieved academic success by maintaining a 3.5 GPA.I know that I have not yet reached my pinnacle, but I have achieved steps of getting noticeably closer because my school instills academic achievement. My mother’s drive and fortitude has additionally rubbed off on me because she has always been an active and involved role model. At school, I am the Junior Class President and a captain of our Football team. I also participate in Track and Field, Student Ambassadors, and a campus ministry leadership group called the JEDIS. I feel it is a moral obligation to serve others, and I am committed to doing so. After school I am highly invested in a community-based service program called Urban Compass, where I tutor and mentor students who attend a local elementary school. As a member of the campus ministry team, I am responsible for canned food drives, serving homeless shelters, and spreading spirituality throughout campus. I am revered as a jovial person, yet I have learned much from my hardships and adversity. If I am selected as a candidate for this opportunity, I am sure I can inspire others to pursue success regardless of an obstacle. In life, not everyone would be able to take the odds against me, but by God’s grace, I have depicted resilience and truly Beat the Odds.
