I started kicking two and a half years ago after playing soccer for most of my life. I felt that the accuracy and power that I had gained while playing goalkeeper would translate well to the football field, and I loved the challenge of learning a new skill. Since the time I started to focus on football, I have improved immeasurably and rapidly, becoming the starter on my high school's Varsity team within two months of beginning my first season.
Being selected to the All-Conference 1st Team in my first full Varsity season, and kicking a high pressure field goal to put a state playoff game out of reach of the higher ranked opposition team are two of my greatest memories (up to now!) playing football. I pride myself on being a totally dedicated student of the game (I am fascinated by the highly technical nature of the discipline) and an extremely coachable player. One of my favorite things about kicking are the moments where the team is relying on me to follow through, and how I am able to decide the game on one play. I thrive on the pressure, but yet have learnt to forgive myself and quickly refocus if things don't go to plan.
Academically, I am a consistently strong performer currently gaining straight-A’s in all classes and have just obtained a 1410 SAT score (3/22/19). I currently participate in multiple Advanced Placement classes and obtain good grades in all subjects, with Math and Science being my chosen areas of interest. The personal trait that best describes me is that I am a "tenacious perfectionist!" When I am working a problem on any topic, I persevere until I get to the right answer - this behavior is also demonstrated when working on my kicking!
My goal for college is to be the absolute best student I can be, to develop strong relationships with my peers, teachers and coaches, while also learning valuable life lessons and skills that will help me in my future career and community.
I understand the importance of balancing the pressures of studying for a high quality science/engineering degree with my athletic endeavors, and I believe that my love for the game and my strong work ethic will single me out as an especially valuable and reliable member of your football team.
NOTE: I am a “year up” academically...I will be graduating High School at the age of 17.
