Earning the starting Varsity CB position my Freshman year has been the highlight of my Football career. I strive to lead my life and decisons through faith and my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I knew if I put in the extra time working on speed, agility, training, weight room it would happen. Having been a part of a successful football program, going to the Semi's all three years has been great. My determination, will power and hard work is something that was instilled in me at a young age. Having parents and 3 older sisters who were all very competive multi-sport athletets, sports and competition has been a big part of my life since I can remember. I love Football, I study it, I watch film, I learn from other athletes, I spend time with trainers who have played at the next level in both Division 1 and NFL. The desire I have to get to play Football at the next level is not only a dream, but a reality I will work hard to make happen.
Not only do I lead on the field, but I lead off the field as well. I have been voted by my class teammatates since my Freshman year as their unity leader, which means my teammates trust me and look to me for guidance and leadership on and off the field. When I have a teammate that is struggling in class, I will always make sure to offer my time to tutor them and help them get the grades needed to stay eligible. When I have a teammate that is struggling personally, I also want to be there to offer my support to help them through lifes obstacles. I beleive a team is one, a brotherhood and we should always be there for our brothers in good and bad times.
I have strangely found that I love math and numbers. I would like to focus on that area as I work towards a college degree. I even breakdown the games, statistics, averages, percentages and everything else when studying football - I like to not only play with my athletic ability, but also with the IQ and brains I have been blessed with. I know academics is key to anything you want to accomplish, Football doesn't last forever - one of the reason I work so hard to stay over a 3.50 and have successfully accomplished that even at a rigorous private school.
Over my high school football career so far, I have played CB, RB, QB, KR and moved into the starting Safety, Wide Receiver, Punt Returner and Long Snapper my Junior year. I am one of those athletes a coach can put in any position and count on the job to get done. I love playing both sides of the ball, grit and grind is something that drives me. Honestly I feel very blessed and honored I have the stamina and mental toughness to play an entire game and the coaches trust me to go 100% and get things done on every play.
I have received multiple awards in not only Football, named Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, 2x All-State, 3x All-Conference, 3x All-Area, lead the league and state in Interceptions, TD's and Receiving Yards, been added to the CHSAA All-Time State Record Board. But, I have also excelled in Wrestling. I strongly believe that Wrestling has helped me build the additional mental toughness you need to be dig deep when you are facing adversity, on your own sometimes. It has helped with my footwork, quickness and much more. When it's just me and another guy going one-on-one on the field, I'm not one of those players where fear sets in or where I back down, I go head to head with confidence. I can for sure say a lot of that has come from Wrestling. Placing 6th in Wrestling State as a Sophomore was a big win for me, I set a goal to get on the podium and did it. My Junior year I placed 4th in the state for Wrestling and working to take 1st in State my Senior Year. I know for a fact that any team I play for will get a player and teammate that knows how to fight, who is a warrior, who sets goals and achieves them, who is respectful and a team player they can count on, who knows at the end of the day you only get out of it what you put into it.
The recognition, the highlights, the accolades are all great, but the reality is I just want to keep doing what I love. When you do what you love, everything else seems to make life better, for me anyway. And I LOVE football and am not ready to let it go just yet after one more year of high school. I would enjoy the opportunity to share with you more personally about me and my Football Life - lets talk.
