Hello, my name is Christian Cunningham, from East Haven CT. Most people call me "CC". I started playing tackle football when I was in 3rd grade, but because there was no 3rd grade team I played up to the 4th grade team. My parents and I decided to spend an additional year on the 4th grade team so I could be with the kids in my age group and we could go through the youth program together. I have liked football for a very long time. I have played other sports but my main and favorite one was and still is football. I am looking forward to continue to play football for my High School team, and eventually a D1 college. I know playing at a D1 level is a very high goal, but I'm confident that if I work to my best abilities, its a goal I can achieve.
Academically, I hope to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better through out High School and College. I am prepared for the challenges I will likely face academically during those years. Although I'm not exactly positive on what I want to major in when I reach college, one thing I do know is that I would like to stay involved with sports to some aspect. Coaching, personal trainer, sports medicine are a few things that interest me.
During my 7th Grade football season, an opposing coach nominated me to attend a local FBU camp in Stanford Connecticut. During evaluation on the final day of camp, I was selected to go to their Top Gun program in Dublin Ohio. The 8th grade season, I was selected to represent my team by being a permanent captain for the season. That year we made it to the second round of playoff's. I was offered to attend the upcoming FBU camp again this summer. At the end of the 8th grade season, I encouraged several team mates to join me in trying out for a spot on the FBU 8th grade team representing Connecticut in the National Championship Tournament. I take pride in knowing that me and 5 of my team mates from East Haven made the team, more than any other one team did. Our FBUNC Connecticut team won the first 2 games, advancing us to Virginia and playing in the top 16. I was selected as a DMAXX Youth All American in 2014 and 2015.
I believe that you should work as hard, if not harder in the off season, to keep in shape and work on improving your flaws so that when the season starts you are better than ever before. I go to a local performance training center, Break Out Athlete, 2-3 times a week. I also attend a local gym, where I focus on more traditional strength training. My goal is to attend more camps, and seek a higher level of intensity.
