Santino Harper
Since I was little I have been a competitive kid whether if its school or anything. As I got older I was smaller, slower and I always raced my little sister at 10 and she kept beating me. So from that point on that was my motivation to be great. Then at the end of the day, I want to see my family happy and I feel that football and school could make that happen. My biggest mentors are my parents because they push me to be great not just on the field but at home and in school and they are 100 percent truthful with me so if I am lacking in anything they know me the best so they tell me when I am lacking.
My dream school is Ohio State. I say that because what’s better than playing at home where you lived forever. An athlete that I look up to is Richard Sherman and Mike Tyson. I say, Richard Sherman because he went to one of the best-educated schools ever, got a 4.2 GPA, and still was a tremendous athlete. I say Mike Tyson because he just had that dog mentality, but there are times when he doesn’t know how to control that dog that’s what I don’t take from him as an athlete. He is really confident and can back it up I apply that in my game but be more humble. I handle pressure and stress on the field by staying focus on what needs to be accomplished and remain calm, always finish what needs to be finished.
My greatest accomplishment as an athlete was to be named the 5th best Running back in the country 2 years ago. Another accomplishment was in the second game of the season I was named News-Herald Player of the Week this one was really special to me because even though I was a freshman they didn’t care about what grade I was in they just gave it to the best athlete that week. That’s one of my goals not to be the best running back in my class, but be the best running back ever. I handle adversity very well. I surround myself with family, friends, and Gilmour teammates that are positive in my life. I can’t control anything in the game. I just have to play and adjust to anything that comes my way. I don’t give up I keep pushing until the last second. Being an Athlete helps with my self-esteem. I am a team player, physically healthy, Motivated, and willing to learn new skills.
