Becoming A High School Student
An experience that has shaped my life was entering high school. Elementary and middle school wasn’t so difficult for me because I had sports to help me on the journey. That isn’t the case for high school because I made a big mistake by not playing any sports my first year of high school because i wanted to get my grades right before i do anything but it seem to make me go down. The curriculum was harder and making friends was as well. I wasn’t ready for the high school environment which caused me to have some difficulties along the way.
My first day of high school was scary because I didn’t know anyone. Being use to only seeing 100 kids a day to 1000 kids a day is overwhelming. I didn’t think I was going to make friends until I meet a group of boys that had the same interest that I did for sneakers. As of today we still remain friends.
At my high school the classes are challenging. The classes are preparing me for college which wasn’t what I was expecting. I didn’t think it was going to be as challenging. During my first year, my work was constantly piling up and I turned my work in late which caused my grades to drop drastically during the year. I was on the verge of possibly failing. After my first year of high school my grades averaged around c's and d's which wasn’t very pleasing.
My sophomore was really no different than the year before. I slacked off and didn't turn my work in on time. I realized that putting myself in this position makes me look bad not only for me but for my parents as while. Near the end of the year I got better in my classes but it was a little too late. During my junior year I improved a lot. My time management got better and I started to understand thecurriculum. I knew it was important year towards my college acceptance so I tried my hardest. This year I'm starting to get my grades higher than the three years before. Throughout, all these years I learned that everything I do it's only going to affect my future negative or positively. Now I take everything I do while in school very seriously because I have no time to waste. There are a lot of things I have to do in my future and I have to start by graduating with a high GPA. My experiences have made me become a better person and student. I learned that everyone only gets one chance to make it out, if you don't use it you’ll lose out on a lot of thing, so take advantages of that chance you get.
