Personal Statement

My name is Derek "DJ" Brown. I started playing football when I was in elementary school because I have always loved the game. I plan to continue to play both football and baseball throughout high school, but eventually I plan to commit to becoming a full-time football player when I get to college. I would love to earn the opportunity to play high level college football.

I am currently an 11th grader and I have played both HS football & baseball for the past 2 years.  On the football field, my major accomplishments to date have been earning a starting position as a Wide Receiver and Cornerback on the Varsity as a Sophomore. I also start on 3 out of the 4 Special Teams. Through hard work, leadership, and persistence, I was honored by the league by being selected a 3rd Team WCAC All-Conference Defensive Back after my Sophomore season. I pride myself on being an extremely hard worker, and I hope to eventually help lead my team to the WCAC Championship. We play a very rigorous schedule in the WCAC, and so I plan on being both mentally and physically prepared for the challenges that lie ahead of myself and my team.

I am an Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society, with a 3.8/4.0 unweighted GPA.  When my GPA is weighted with the fact that I also take honors classes, it is a 4.0/4.0.  One of my favorite hobbies is watching movies in my spare time. I plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business Administration.  I also plan to earn a post-graduate degree in Sports Management.

Over the past couple of years, I have been involved with a youth service program which allows me to give back to the community.  I have had the opportunity to participate in youth sports organization sign-ups, clothes and coat drives, food drives, and in Toys for Tots drives. I hope to continue to be deeply involved in service programs for my community for many years to come.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
