Elijah Gilbert '16 Recruiting Profile

I remember when I first stepped on the field for my first varsity game. I was playing slot receiver that game and we were playing West Broward High School. It was third quarter and I was just put in the game. I lined up and ran a simple five yard out route . The quarterback threw me the ball. All I remember is catching the ball, running for two yards breaking a tackle, running a additional fifteen yards shaking two people and getting tackled from behind. I felt great and I knew I needed to do that again so I decide that I would try to do that every game. But the only way I could do that is to become a leader not a follower and beat every body to make it to a starting spot. So I started to do extra running extra ball drills on my own and having a quarterback come with me to run routes with at the school filed. Now that I have given that extra work I am starting for my senior year. My coach said I improved so much from last year and he saw me working out on the off season that I deserve to start and be a captain on this team.That showed me that if I keep working hard I can accomplish anything. When I go to college to play football it will be different to me but I would still be a leader and hard worker. My academics will still be above and beyond one of my main focus. I will keep on working hard and competing to get where I need to go. I would like a program to help me not just in athletics but in academics as well. A program that best fits me. I would like to go to a school that has a pharmacy program. So i can study to be a pharmacists and help people that are sick. I have great leaderships skills and I have a hard work ethic that can propel me in life. I have a 3.0 GPA  and I am A B honor role student. I look forward to speaking with college coaches willing to give a athlete like myself an opportunity to go to a college and play the sport that I love. Also to become the professional man i want to be.
