I started playing football in 8th grade to have a built-in set of friends, a place to belong, but, in the end, football gave me more than I ever thought possible. The friendships I built along the way have been a positive, but the life lessons I've learned up to this point have molded me into the person that I am. I was not athletic naturally, but through hard work and perseverance, my unwillingness to give up, the desire to prove to myself and others that I do have what it takes, that you can and will be somebody, brought me to writing this personal statement seeking higher education while doing what I love, playing football.
Outside of football I have a heart for the differently abled, to teach and include everybody. We are in this life together. We all have a purpose. I am proud to have obtained my certification in early childhood education and look forward to pursuing my college degree in education.
I take pride in my work ethic; it matters to me. Throughout my four years of high school, I did not miss any conditioning sessions, practices, games or events. I had 100% attendance. I was the first to arrive and the last to leave. I built my leadership skills through the process and was named as a team captain my senior year. I also received our school's highest award, the Hurricane Award. This award is given to an individual player who exhibits honest and positive character qualities on and off the football, one that puts others first, an attitude of respect for others as well as themselves.
I look forward to the right doors opening, where I can continue to grow athletically and academically. I will work hard for you and my teammates. I will work just as hard to represent your college with the utmost respect it deserves from me.
