Never give up on your dream or something that you love to do in the future and you see yourself doing. I’m Honest, Loyal, Leader, Open Minded, Motivated. Tearing my ACL during football season has been the most significant challenge.
Emotionally I was destroyed and hurt. But mostly mad at myself because I thought my football career was over. After the surgery , I began my healing process. I gradually learned how to walk again. This led to me regaining the strength in my leg creating a future within football again. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without God, my family, and the help of my physical therapist. This affected me academically because I physically couldn't go to school. This created little to no time nor opportunity for me to focus on football scholarships. I was laying in bed all day thinking I should quit football, and just focus on school. Pondering over the thought that since I got hurt no college would accept me. Prayer and support from my family guided me to continue.
One skill I’ve acquired from this experience was patience. This would help me in every aspect of my life to have discipline physically and mentally. Coming to understand that there are some situations I cannot control. Most importantly, I learned how to appreciate the people around me, for helping during my time in need. Even when I was struggling internally , I kept my hope and faith alive for my football career.
Although tearing my ACL is my most significant challenge, I take it day by day to overcome and heal. My process may have been hard but I wouldn't change it for the lessons I have acquired within. Going through this has shown me and my family just how strong and dedicated I am. I learned that if you love something that you do that you see yourself in the future doing never quit on it. Stay focused on it and keep grinding until you make it.
