During my childhood to present, I spend a huge amount of time with my dad in the outdoors on weekends when we both are free. I have seen beautiful sunrises and sunsets from a boat, duck blind, golf courses and various other outdoor settings. I told my dad I want to pursue a career that helps preserve those experiences for other kids after me. My childhood experiences have led me down the path to pursue an education in Wildlife Management and or Conservation Law.
My dad is a huge influence in my life and he was worked in Human Resources for over 24 years now. He has told me of the countless times that he has hired candidates who participated competitively especially any that played at the collegiate level as they bring that same competitive spirit to work with them every day. Going to college and playing sports sets me apart from some of the competition and will hopefully jumpstart my career in a few years.
My mom has made a career out of taking care of our home and my sister and I. She runs us to countless practices, participated in all the Quarterback clubs and has served my team s since I was in pee wee leagues. I know she loves to watch me play and hopefully getting to play another 4 years would be one of the greatest gifts I could give to her. I also feel responsible to set a good example for my younger sister who plays softball.
I feel I am a good candidate for any team as I know what it takes to make a good team. Everyone has to do his or her role and challenge each other to push beyond your limits every day. I have served as team captain on all my teams and I am respected on and off the field as a leader. Whether a leader or not, I know my own role and will serve that accordingly. I have a tireless work ethic that has paid many rewards to me thus far. I have started on both sides of the ball my entire career with the exception of my freshman year where I started JV only but was permitted to dress with the Varsity and play occasionally on Special teams units.
As a Freshman I was thrown around pretty good by the stronger upper classmen but knew what it took to change that and I did. My mom and dad moved our family to Bloomington Indiana to a bigger 5A program where I found the speed to be much faster than what I was used to in Middle School playing for a smaller 2A school in Hancock County, Kentucky.
I have played football every fall since I was 7 year old. I love the game, I am driven to win and have played for some outstanding coaches. I owe it to myself, my family, and all those coaches over the years who have given their time to help me progress in this journey.
Respectfully,
Lane Stagnolia
