Being a college athlete is something I have dreamed about since I was little. My future collegiate goals are to continue my athletic career, prepare for my future, and to better myself mentally and physically.
I would like to attend a college that offers sports management where I can continue my passion and the love of sports. A sports management degree would allow myself multiple options to help run the scene behind game day.
When it comes to aspirations, over the year my mindset has changed for the better. I will be successful in life by having a college career, beginning my first job working around sports, having a big loving family, and being able to provide for myself and my family.
I believe I am a good candidate because I am a hard worker on and off the field. I attend each practice, I work out daily, I study film to be prepared each week for games, and I am a team player. Being a three-sport athlete for multiple years has taught me how to manage and balance my athletic and school career. Besides my high school varsity teams (football, basketball, and track), I have also participated on Indiana Elite and Under Armor travel basketball as well for multiple years.
If I had to set myself apart from other athletes, I want you to know I have perseverance. When I was little my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away when I was in elementary school. I could have shut down, and my future could have been different, but I got through it. I continued to play sports and focused my time trying to be better each year. I didn’t give up when I had a huge obstacle in my life. I have learned not to take life for granted and to go for your passion because you never know how much time you have left. As an athlete, I have the passion, courage, and drive to become better each day, each game, and each season. I am 6’6” and can run a 4.8 40 yard dash. If you say I can’t do something, I’m going to try twice as hard to do it even better. Throughout my high school career, I have learned being a student athlete has multiple meanings. My academics have not always been the best, but I have realized I represent our school and have put forth more effort to improve my grades. I participate in class. I have taken advantage of building relationships with my teachers and I am grateful that has opened the door for me to be a mentor for under classmen in the weight room.
I would love to opportunity to continue my athletic career, build more relationships, and better myself individually and physically.
