Tylen Cunningham '23 Recruiting Profile

 I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year, making varsity as a starting middle linebacker.  This past year as a Junior, I took another step in the right direction by improving on my strength, speed, agility and leadership on the field.  Although as a sophomore I was the only one selected to the ALL- MIC first team that experience only increased my drive to want to grow as a person, and leader and it has led me to increase my own focused efforts on becoming a solid linebacker capable of playing at the college level. I ended my junior season leading the MIC in tackles and at one point I was 17th in the nation. My goal is to continue to improve, period.  

I am fortunate enough to be part of an amazing program.  Coach Will Patterson has changed the mindset and expectations of our program at Lawrence Central and it's increased my drive to become an elite student-athlete. I learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership this year without a trophy and also dealing with the onslaught of COVID, as it did affect my family as it has so many others. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a honor roll student, two-sport athlete, 2-time team captain, capable of playing on both sides of the ball I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
