I have found one of the greatest parts of being part of a team is working together towards our goals. The summer of my freshman year of high school, I was reserved and only spoke when spoken too. Our high school football program worked that summer to bring in the freshman class as family. We worked together to become better people on and off the field. During one of our scrimmages, I saw a need on our offensive line, I went to my coach and told him if they were willing to teach me the line I could fill in. It was a big move going from receiver to the line but I felt I was up for the challenge. I was asked to be a volunteer coach for our local youth flag football league. This was one of the most rewarding experience for me. I was able to help teach our younger generation a sport that I connect both mentally and physically. This is where I began to open up more in my own personality. I found I was pushing myself to all new levels, asking questions, and learning more about what our coaches and team needed. My Sophomore year, I was lucky if I was 5’10, 160 lbs and I was going to be the new offensive guard of our high school varsity football team. Most of the community doubted me and my size. Nobody could believe, they put this small sophomore on the offensive line of the varsity football team. I knew I had to prove to everyone why I was given the opportunity. That game was just the beginning of the most successful football season of my High School’s history. We won the school's 1st sectional championship. I still have my starting position on the varsity offense line. This will be my first year at Middle Linebacker and I will put 110% effort into being the best I can be even starting on both the o-line and at MLB. Playing football allows me to work together as a team as well as challenge me personally through hard work and dedication.
