Personal Statement

My name is Marcus Thorne and I am a student athlete.  I enjoy and seek competition on and off the field.  I have started on the varsity football team and played both offense and defense since my freshman year.  Also, I am on the varsity baseball team.  Although this is an accomplishment, I am not satisfied.  I will continue to work on all facets of both sports.  I am certain I want to play at the next level.  I have competed in both sports against individuals across the nation.  I have received athletic and academic awards that attest to my pursuit of excellence.  I have received MVP and performance awards at football camps and played in their all-American bowl the last 5 years.  I played in the baseball factory national World Series when I was a freshman and played in the 16U SW UA baseball tourney in Southern California last summer.  I made the leader board in a couple categories and was one of 90 kids out of about 1300 that the scouts blogged about the first evening.  I currently have over a 4.29 GPA out of 4.0 in my honors curriculum.  My lowest grade is an A.  In fact, an A- is the lowest grade I have ever received in my lifetime on anything.   I am not only an active participate in the classroom and on the field but I'm also in the student council, Beta (academic excellence) club, Science club,  BPA (Business Professionals of America), DECA and  Envirothon.  I am the district state President of DECA.  I'm also the President of the junior class.

In closing, I promise if you give me the opportunity to visit you will not regret it.  I go to a small school with a weak program so it's very hard to get noticed so I need someone to give me a chance.  Invite me to visit!  What do you have to lose?  I will be an asset to your program!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
