Personal Statement
Hello,
I am Morgan Handel I am 18 years old and from Suffolk, United Kingdom.
My passion for American football started at a very young age. I remember watching my first ever game when I was about four years old and being hooked from that point on. It had always been something I wanted to pursue, but being from a heavily rugby orientated background I was very much pushed to that side. It wasn't until 2016 where I padded up for the first time and really started my journey in the sport of football. In my first season, I won Rookie of the Year totaling 40 tackles in our three total games. In my second year, I was named a defensive captain. This was a true honor to me and I took it on myself to try and be the best role model for not just the veteran players but also the rookies coming into the team that season. The teamwork and effort we have shown since finally coming into an official league in the 2017 season were phenomenal. We managed to go to the Divison finals and place fourth in the country after two hard games against very respected sides. During those games is where I feel I have stepped up most in my football career. Not only did I lead the defense in tackles but when our starting quarterback was injured I was the one who stepped up to fill his role. The team and I went on to win the game which was an amazing experience and even I the starting linebacker was able to collate 1 passing TD and 1 rushing TD with a total of 85 rushing yard. I feel that this shows how I am not afraid to step up into any situation and try my best for the team and keep our heads high and push forward even when the odds were stacked agains us. Academically I have always tried my best and each day try and better myself and push myself to become not just a better athlete but better student and a better all-around person. In school, I would like to think of myself as a role model to the younger years as I always try and will not give up and am always open to help anyone in need. I feel like this is a factor that makes me stand out from any other candidate. I feel that my passion and outlook not just towards the game of football but towards life, in general, is why you should choose me to be in your college and part of your team.
