Personal Statement
I have two passions in my life. One is playing football and the other is learning. I have always loved school and learning new things. This has served me very well in my football career. No matter how many games and practices I have participated in or how many game films I have reviewed, I always try to learn something new.
I was diagnosed with a moderate to severe hearing impairment in both ears at the age of 3. This has never stopped me from playing (and excelling in) sports and some of my coaches think it actually helps me on the field!
I have been playing football since Grade 5. I started out in the Kinsmen Football Leaque in Saskatoon (I was a Babineau Warrior). In Grade 9 I played for both the Babineau Warriors and the Delisle Rebels. I was really busy, but I loved every minute of it. Any opportunity that I could be on the field, I took it.
I have an overall average of 87% in Grade 12 and I am trying diligently to improve those marks.
I am also currently taking a Power Engineering online course in addition to my Grade 12 studies. Once I pass this course, I will have my fifth class certification in Power Engineering and I have applied to Sask Polytechnic to take the remaining courses which will eventually allow me to obtain further certifications.
In addition to football, I also play basketball, hockey, track and field (100m, 200m, javelin, relay) and I train with a football physical trainer three times per week after school.
I am on the Student Representative Council for Delisle Composite High School and really enjoy this opportunity to be directly involved in all of my school activities.
I am very family-oriented which is why I chose to attend a post-secondary institution close to home.
Thank you.
