Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
My name is Bastian Laugesen, and I am currently enrolled in Borupgaard gymnasium, a highschool in Denmark, where I am pursuing my high school education. Although I am studying in Denmark, my passion for American football has driven me to strive for excellence in this sport.
I have been playing football for 10 years, primarily focusing on the cornerback position. Throughout my years of training and competing, I have developed a deep understanding of the cornerback's responsibilities and refined the skills necessary to excel in this demanding role.
As a cornerback, I pride myself on my exceptional coverage skills and ability to shut down opposing receivers. I possess excellent speed, agility, and quickness, which allow me to stick to receivers like glue and effectively defend against both short and deep routes. My exceptional footwork and hip flexibility enable me to change direction swiftly, keeping up with even the most elusive receivers.
In addition to my coverage skills, I have a strong ability to read and react to the quarterback's intentions. I am adept at analyzing the opposing team's offensive strategies, enabling me to anticipate their plays and make crucial interceptions or pass deflections. My instincts on the field, combined with my solid technique, have often disrupted the opposing team's passing game.
Moreover, I understand the importance of communication and teamwork in the cornerback position. I take pride in effectively communicating with my teammates, ensuring that we are all on the same page and able to execute defensive schemes seamlessly. I am a disciplined player who consistently fulfills my role within the defensive unit while providing leadership and support to my teammates.
Academically, I am committed to excelling both in the classroom and on the field. I recognize that being a student-athlete requires exceptional time management and dedication. I am confident in my ability to maintain a high level of academic performance while also contributing positively to the football program at your College.
