Personal Statement
Ever since I first put on pads at the age of seven, I have always been a fervent lover of the game. As I grew older, playing football at a higher level became one of my biggest aspirations. I know that if I were to achieve the feat I would make seven-year-old Ivan very proud.
Although COVID-19 has taken away my past 2 seasons, I have been working hard and am determined to continue growing as an athlete. Whilst being a part of a team, I am always encouraging and never stop pushing myself and my teammates to be the best athletes about people we can be. I listen to all my coaches and do my best to take feedback and improve myself. In addition to playing football, I am one of the Varsity Captains for my school's basketball team this year.
While in the classroom, I work diligently to maintain good grades while beginning to challenge myself with more difficult courses. In addition to my academics, I am an assistant coach for the middle school basketball team. Outside of school, I am a volunteer coach football for young kids in Singapore.
My goal is to find a college where I can commit to my dream at the highest possible level and continue my growth as a student and as a person. I am willing to look at all options which will eventually lead me to the place where I wish to settle. I hope to be a tremendous leader and example for my peers and teammates. And by doing so, I will push myself to make that seven-year-old kid with a dream more proud than he could imagine.
