Personal Statement
Most other collegiate recruits have had vast amounts of training, with professional help from school coaches. You may then see my position as a disadvantage because playing opportunities are not many here in Britain and so because of this I created my own club team, Brighton Regents, so that I and others around me could play the sport. This mindset also enables me to be able to walk-on to a team as I’m constantly trying to achieve the next tier of a team. I have played at a full standard for over three years despite this, studying the game deeply to gain any advantage on the field.
Academics wise, I attend Brighton College on an Academic Scholarship, and at GCSE I achieved six 9s, two 8s, and an A*, as well as achieving the top grade in History GCSE in the country. I went on to achieve three A*s at A-Level, the highest grade possible and as such hold an offer to the University of Cambridge. I feel that this translates well onto the football field as I can diagnose plays quickly, and adjust accordingly.
My main sports other than American football are currently rugby and cricket. I train 4 times a week for rugby, improving speed and strength as well as ball-handling and finding gaps in contact. These skills have translated into my development as an all-purpose back and returner, with a key skill in making defenders miss tackles.
I have wanted to play collegiate American football for over 4 years now and I will keep working my hardest to get better and create new opportunities for myself.
I'm looking forward to getting in contact with you.
