Dear Coaches
My name is Sofiane Zerouala , i’m 5-11 , 165 lbs , my high 40 is : 4,66 , my low 40 is : 4,53
and i write you and send you my tape because i wanna play college football .But Unlike all the other prospects who intend to play college football , I didn’t played in high school football , and there’s a good reason for that , i’m french , and i write you from Paris . I discovered what we call in Europe « US football (yes , for europeans , real football is soccer …. Please take me out of here! )» , two years ago when a friend of a friend intended to build a club in Paris ,(there was no one before that so i had no chance to play) , i learned the rules , and i started to realize how complex and interesting it was .The club was built , i played several times with shoulderpads and helmet , and all i wanted was more football .One year later , the club was over ,crashed down by financial issues , but i continued to train very hard to fulfill my dream : play college football but i want you to know that i know :
– my size and speed are not exceptional
– i’ve got less experience than the other prospects
– life in college football is not only big parties and hot girls but also very hard work , weigh everything i’ll eat , learn every football formation , learn all the playbook , and practice again and again and again
– you win your job in special teams , i’m ready to return kickoffs and punts , and to play n°5
Given my size and speed , i intend to play Wr or Cb but if after you watched my tape you think i can succeed at other positions , i love the entire football game , i love all the positions , and i fully trust you so if you think that i can succeed at defensive tackle , i’ll play defensive tackle !!!
About my academics , i want you to know that :
– i graduate my high school in France but i don’t have yet my SAT , but i know it will be required so i already bought books to prepare for , and i will pass it before February
– i know that even if i go to ncaa , i’m not sure to make it to the NFL , so i’ll keep study to get a major’s degree (this year i was in a french law school "Paris-La Sorbonne" in first year , i got my first semester but i could'nt study all the time i wanted during the second because i had some family issues )
– AT THE TIME YOU OFFER ME A SCHOLARSHIP , I’LL TAKE IT , AND I'LL BE WORTHY OF YOUR TRUST i'll sign any paper you want
I write you beacause i intend to play for you whenever you want ( i know it's probably too late for this year so it may probably be for the 2012 SEASON ) , and even if i have enough money for the plane ticket , i can't pay you so i hope to get a scholarship ( here in France i am eligible to get a partial scholarship (3000 euros for the entire academic year ) due to my parent's low earnings ) , to get it I know that this tape will probably won’t be enough , so if you want me to perform at camps , or even to come in your campus for tryouts , to show my value it’s ok , i worked in june and july to get money for the plane ticket , ,I AM FULLY TO YOUR ENTIRE DISPOSITION TO ANSWER ANY QUESTION , OR EVEN TO COME IN YOUR CAMPUS FOR A TRYOUT AT ANY TIME YOU WANT , so don’t hesitate because i’m now in Paris , if you want me to make some camps OR TO COME , AT THE SECONDE YOU TELL ME TO COME FOR A TRYOUT , I'LL BE ALREADY ON THE PLANE , Now let’s talk about the tape i joined , i want you to know that :
– the friend who play against me is 6-5 , 219 lbs , and run the 40 in 4,97
-the time i clocked to the 20 yard shuttle is 4,48
– I already played with shoulderpads and helmet and get hitted ( i know the guys who hitted me wheren’t as hard hitters as the guys will be in NCAA ) , so i know playing football is receive shocks , hits , probably some injuries , and especially playing Wr or Kr/Pr , but you know what ? I’m lovin it !
– although i already played with helmets and shoulderpads, i never get coached , nobody ever learned me to play football , to catch a ball , to cover a receiver so the defaults you may see in the tape could be easyilly corrected by coaching
– I lift Weights , but without any coache’s assistance , and without noting more that meat , and with less than 2500 calories a day
I know your time and your scholarships are precious but you can't imagine how hard i am ready to work to only get a chance to fulfill my dream , i saw very good players going down in the NFL Draft because of their off-the field issues , and because some coaches wheren't sure of how hard they were ready to work , but i also saw players considered not good enough for the next level getting a chance beacause of their hard working and beacause coaches knew that they would get worthy of the chance the were offered , please do the same with me , i know you would prefered saw me playing "real football " but here it's impossible , players in the US just have to go in high school to play football , i saved money a full year only to buy me a football ball , i worked two month last year to buy the sat TV an get the channel called here "ESPN America " to watch Football , and with the rest of the money i bought a US xbox to be finally able to play Madden 09 beacause that's all i found in a continent where soccer is the religion , again , please take me out of here , please believe me when i say that no one loves the football more than me despite that i can talk football with no one here , all the potential that you'll see in me in the tape , i'll realize it because i'll never stop working , lifting weights , eating what you want , i'll never forget that you trusted in me , every second of the year i'll know that my place in the team won't be win , i'll stay competitive and respectuous , and again , i'm not begging you for an immediate scholarship , i just want a fair chance to come in person defend my chances , to come in person show you what i learned to do alone , to show you that no one plays with a bigger heart than me , if you don't believe my love for the football , question me about any nfl game on this last two years , ask me how the jets defense did shutdown the patriots offense in divisonal last year , ask me what are the benefits and risks of a man coverage and of a zone coverage , ask me how i'll defend against michael vick led eagles offense , and if you don't believe that i have what it takes to play for you , try me , bring me in whenever you want for a scrimmage , for lifting weights , for 40 yard dash , 3-cone drill , 20 yard shuttle , Broad Jump , just give me a helmet and shoulderpads and let me play 5 games with who you want , if you still aren't convinced , then i'll go back home , and you'll have lost nothing more than a few hours of your time even if i know how precious he is , SO PLEASE ANSWER ME AND TRY ME BEFORE THROW ME WAY
