Personal Statement
I am currently in year 13 of the English education system (equivalent to 12th grade) and currently studying A level physical education, sociology and media studies. I have already completed my GCSEs, sat the ACT test and have sent all relevant transcripts to the NCAA and NAIA, which have all been approved.
I am very keen to study in the US, and have the opportunity to play American football at the collegiate level. I play both offence (starting RB) and defence (starting FS) for the London Warriors junior team. This season, on offence, I ran for 454yds and 6TDs off 51 carries, had 6 receptions for 63yds; and on defence I made 31 solo tackles and had 2 interceptions. I’ve attended various football camps and combines, including some in the US while on holiday, which has helped me learn and analyse what I need to improve on.
I think my personality and past experiences set me apart from other players. I'm quick to make friends and work well with all kinds of people from different backgrounds. I’m able to motivate my team-mates, but at the same time, focus on what I need to do on the field. I’m able to stay relaxed and perform to a higher level. In a short space of time I have made great strides in football, which has been recognised by my coaches and I am now one of the team captains.
I think the experience of studying and playing sports at a higher level is an amazing opportunity for any international student. I believe the progress I have made over the last two years and the progress I intend to make over this coming year, makes me a worthwhile candidate for consideration.
