Personal Statement
I am a 19 year old Australian Football player currently residing in Brisbane, Queensland. I began playing Australian Rules football at the age of 5, where I discovered my natural ability to punt a football, since then I have represented my city and region every year from under 12's to under 18's in the state championships. I have captained two championship winning club teams and captained my high school team in year 11 and year 12. In 2008 I was selected in the Mackay crows all-star team of the year as a defensive back. Along with my ability to punt the football an average of 58 yards, I feel my explosive power and great agility are my biggest assets on the football field. I have a very happy and bubbly personality and pride myself on having the ability to make friendships very quickly and "gel" well within a team environment. Captaining my high school in my senior year, along with captaining my high school football and basketball teams and club football teams has not only improved my leadership abilities as a whole but also improved my ability to work with a wide range of people from all different back grounds, in order to achieve a common goal. I have great drive, focus and work ethic and I'm always prepared to go to great lengths to ensure that the best possible outcome for not only myself, but for the team as whole is achieved. Due to my upbringing, personality, leadership skills and the fact that i have been a part of a large number of different teams (both sporting and extracurricular), I am confident that I would have a positive impact on any college football team I was privileged enough to be a part of.
Growing up in a small country town in North Queensland, I have never experienced life in a really big city, and i would love to attend university in a big city on the east coast or in the southern states of America, however i would feel extremely privileged to receive the opportunity to study and play football at any university within the United states. I have always dreamt of studying and playing football at a big academic institution within the united states but I am definitely open to attending all different types of universities regardless of size, academic level or backgrounds as I feel I would thoroughly enjoy and gain a lot out of the experience no matter where I attended college. I am aware of the costs of attending an international university and would very much appreciate any financial aid i could receive.
After attending two of the biggest Universities within my state in the past two years and studying two different degrees, i have come to the conclusion that i want to pursue a major in business or Human movement studies.
I have always been a fan of the NFL and have watched televised games for as long as i can remember however living in Australia I have never got to experience it first hand or pursue a career in American football. After consistently practising and improving my punting abilities over the past year, as well as extensive strength and conditioning training, I finally feel I am at a stage where i could have a positive impact on a college team as a punter. I aspire to one day reach the pinnacle of college football and play for a division 1 college football team, however I am fully aware of my sporting background and would feel extremely privileged to receive the opportunity to study and play football at any college in America. I will always strive to have a positive impact on any team i am lucky enough to be a part of and will put in 100 percent effort both on and off the field in order to acheive the best possible outcome for not only the team but also the coaching staff and the university as a whole.
