Personal Statement

The reason why I am applying for International Economics and Management is I have always been fascinated by the economic aspect of society, and specifically of sports. In fact, throughout my entire life, I always sought to expand my knowledge on the various aspects that are part of business management. Studying this course I think will be part of my journey and a step I really want to take towards one day, having the job of my dreams, which is to be a general manager of a football team playing in the highest possible leagues.

This particular subject interests me in a way that no other does because it's one of the few things I enjoy learning and I have no problem spending my free time deepening my knowledge and learning more things. Also, as I am very competitive with the people around me, it would be the subject that would mostly drive me to be the best version of myself and the best student possible.

Since I am very competitive, I think that I would be suitable for this course as I will be motivated to be one of the best students and one who puts a lot of hard work towards achieving my goals. This attitude will also help me in being accepted into the course as I know many valuable students around the world plan on studying my same subject at university, therefore there will be a great selection before accepting the best students and the ones who are able to stand out.

I have been sure about what to study in university for a while now and that has helped me in my decisions so far. For example, I made my IB subject choice based on a path that would bring me to be a better candidate for International economics and management. In fact, I take Economics HL together with Psychology HL. I believe these two subjects are preparing me in the best way possible to succeed in this course and they are also both closely related to it. Economics for obvious reasons will set the base for what I will study at university and Psychology will help me in better understanding humans and relations, which is something which will help me a lot if I want to be a general manager in the future, because the relationships you build in and out of your workspace are key. Together with these subjects I then take Math A&A SL, ESS, Italian L&L HL, and English L&L SL. In addition, I feel that languages will also help me because there is a lot to learn of culture just from the language, which will also help me in building those key relationships, and also it is fundamental nowadays to be able to speak different languages fluently. As a matter of fact, I also speak Spanish.

The best skill I think that reflects my abilities, both as a student and as a person, is my leadership. Leadership is a skill I always prioritized and worked on since I was little. The major reason why is because leaders stand out from the crowd, and it is not easy for you to be seen by others as one, but once you establish yourself as a leader, people will follow you and work with you.

Outside of school, I am very proud of my passions. I mostly play American Football and go to the gym. I also spend a lot of time with my friends when I have the opportunity. These passions I cultivated really help me balance my life. they also work as stress relief for me, especially working out, and I feel that it is very important to be able to carve out some space for yourself. I also enjoy seeing the results of the things I do, because if I do something I want to do it to the best of my abilities, therefore I think it's important to set both short-term and long-term goals, to see the results of my actions. Lately, I have been called to participate in an evaluation camp for the Italian National team Under 17 to then participate in the European tournament in September.

As I believe mental health is major adversity for people of all ages but specifically teenagers, with two other students I lately started a Mental Health club in school, which is something I am very proud of, and think will help many people.
