Personal Statement
My whole life I have dreamed of playing collegiate football. Football is in my DNA. I aspire to be the best student-athlete I can be. I work just as hard in the classroom as I do on the field. I improve my grades just as much as I improve upon my skills and athletic ability. I strive to be the best role model I can be to people in my family (my younger siblings) as well as my fellow teammates. As varsity Team Captain, I need to set the right example for my team. So I lead by example when ever possible. I cannot preach about commitment on the field when I am not the first guy there giving 110% and the last guy to leave. I cannot preach about getting good grades when I'm failing classes. I believe that what makes me different is the environment in which I was brought up and the way in which I was raised. I am from a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean; 2,500+ miles from the nearest US state (Hawaii). I also live in a very small village and come from a very big family of immediate and extended relatives. I was raised to value my belief in God and family above all else, and to always be respectful, helpful and humble. I play not just for myself, but for my family. I extend a helping hand to anyone who needs it both on and off the field. I am confident in my strengths but humble enough to recognize and work on my weaknesses. I feel that my academic and athletic abilities as well as my character and personality will be an asset to any university that takes a chance on me.
