Personal Statement
My name's Unai Xarpell and I would like to tell you about myself and why I want to study in the USA and play college football.
First, I'm seventeen years-old and I'm from Andorra, in Europe. I have played rugby since I'm nine years old and I study in a French high school: the Lycée Comte de Foix.
I want to go studying in the USA because of the high academics level there is and for the high athletics level there is. I've always had a good academic level because of my hard-studying in the French system.
I also have a great athletics level due to the quantity of sports I practice: my main sport is rugby that I practice in the club VPC Andorra and we play in the Catalan division in Spain, one of the best leagues in the country. I have also been selected this summer by the national rugby team to play a sevens European tournament, the Trophy 2. We played in July and we won the tournament so the next year we will play in the Trophy 1 and I was awarded the MVP trophy of the tournament.
Plus, I went to a ski club for more than thirteen years in the PCGR where I started skiing at 3 years old and I did a lot of national competitions. Moreover, since I'm very young I go with my family nearly every week in the mountains to do rock climbing and alpinism that have helped me to develop a powerful mental strength.
So, by practicing a lot of different sports where I developed a lot of skills such as mental skills, coordination skills and physical abilities, and moreover thanks to rugby I've developed really good hand, good steps, speed, acceleration, great field vision and I've become a great ball-carrier and I think that all these abilities can help me to play football at the college level, a sport that I started watching years ago and that has become my passion.
Furthermore, I have earned through the years a lot of athletics experience that I could bring to your program and everyone would come out a winner.
