Alex Key '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alex Key and I’m a student athlete at Derby High School in Derby, Kansas. In school, I work very hard for the 4.08 GPA that I have achieved. On the football field, I have been blessed to be a 3-time 6A State Champion on the Derby Panther Football team that has won 6 State titles since 2013.  I am looking forward to my senior year and getting that 4th state championship and ring. I feel very proud and honored to be a part of the rich tradition at Derby. I do my part to help the team succeed and be a leader to the underclassmen.

My main position is left tackle on the offensive line, but have played at both right guard and right tackle during my two years starting on the varsity team. I started playing football in 3rd grade and from that time through 9th grade, I had the privilege of playing both offense and defense. It wasn't until my sophomore year that I became solely on the offensive line, but would be open to playing defense as well. Our offense here at Derby is more geared toward running the ball, so naturally my skills in the linemen position are run heavy and very aggressive. 

In the past 2 seasons I have acquired many personal accolades to my name, such as Topeka Top 11, Topeka All Class First Team, Ark Valley Chisholm Trail 6A 1st team starter,  and Wichita Eagle All State Team. I am also a nominee for the Kansas High School Sports Award Selection for football along with our former QB Lem Wash, which will be announced July 15th.  As of right now ,SixStarFootball KS has me ranked as a 4 star athlete.  

I feel that my work ethic to achieve success is something valuable to any college program. I am always working to better myself on and off the field. Whether it comes in the form of working out, putting in the extra effort to keep up my grades, or being an active member of my church youth group.  I believe that my size, speed, explosiveness and experience is exactly what any college could use for their O-line. I would love to play at the next level and hopefully get the chance to talk to you more about that possibility.
