I am interested in attending college because going to college would be a big accomplishment for me, since I will be the first of my mother and my father's children to attend college. I have been playing football my whole life, and to stay in shape for football I also engage in wrestling and track. I am a first-year state qualifier in wrestling. Also, this year I was the the rookie of the year and ended up placing eighth or ninth out of the best sixteen wrestlers in the state of Kansas. In football, I was the leader in running yards per attempts for the entire season. Furthermore, this year I am the captain of a weight room group. I make sure that the freshman, sophomores, and Juniors are in the weight room every day and are doing their best. Also, I am an avid swimmer, and I am a licensed lifeguard a the community recreation center.
At my school, I have done over eight hours of community service, such as giving food to the needy and helping create signs for the local civic center. I also read stories to elementary students at the public library. My work ethic in the classrooms is great. I put my grades before sports at all times. Therefore, I have never been on the ineligible list, and I have had all A 's & B's during my whole eleventh grade year. The things that influence me in my life are my little sister and brothers, and making my mother and grandmother proud because of everything they have sacrificed for me in my lifetime. I have been interested in sports my whole life. Ever since I was able to be on a football team, I have loved the game and have given it my all whenever I step on the field. Football and wrestling have taught me to push through the pain. It is about who wants it more and who has the biggest heart out there. I have also learned that pain is only temporary on the field or on the mat, so I push through whatever is going on. I will be able to rest later.
My academic goals are to get my Master's degree in business management and create my own clothing design and, later on in life, open a store with my shoes, shirts, pants, socks, etc. The biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is going through most of my life without my father in my corner. He has been deceased since I was ten years old, and I have not really had that father-son bond with anyone since that day. So for me to get into a university would put a smile on his face while he is up in heaven. The skills and characteristics I possess are that I am a leader, and I am willing to work hard to get to a successful position. I am the type of person to not only bring good energy to a place but also hard work and good leadership. I also take advice and use it for motivation, and I will lift a teammate up if he is down and needs a helping hand. Lastly, in my free time I like to workout, cook, and do little things at my house to build up team chemistry. I am also taking classes to learn how to repair cars. In all, I think I am a good recruit to go to any university and play football.
