When I put on the helmet and step onto the field, everything inside of me comes to life--I'm exactly where I'm meant to be. The players slow as I calculate what they'll do next and I put myself where I need to be.
I work, I lift, I watch films, I train outside of practice because I only get this one chance to be the most I can be, and I want it. I want it so bad. I'm one of the fortunate ones to excel in what I love, and I will never take this for granted.
I know this mentally is necessary off the field though as well. Bodies age and I will not always be able to play football, so I invest this same approach off the field through academics, so one day, when my body is no longer able to compete, I'm more than just the game. I balance my life, typically sacrificing the social side because my priorities are different from most kids my age.
I will do what it takes to be successful both on and off the field simply because I wouldn't have it any other way.
