My name is Jacob Turner and I am 6"3" 230 lb. outside linebacker/defensive end. As a freshman I played on South laurel High Schools JV team as a defensive end. Playing JV gave me the base for what the position was and how to play it. Moving on into my sophomore year I started for South Laurel High Schools Varsity team. Throughout the year I noticed that I started the season young and inexperienced but about the 6th or 7th game I really noticed a change in my ability to play the sport. Seeing that change made me realize that hard work and practice does pay off. After going through a tough 5-6 season I decided to set some goals for myself and to better myself for my team and for myself. My coach decided a position change would benefit the team more than having me just play defensive end. He moved me to outside linebacker. Getting prepared for my junior season I knew I would have to work on speed and strength. The weight room was a big help to me during the first half of this off season. Now getting near to the end of the school year 7v7 is the focus. With upcoming 7v7 tournaments coming up we practice 7v7 throughout the week often. I train for football year round. It is my number one priority outside of schooling. Year round I spend my time in the weight room, participating in 7v7 practices or tournaments, or attending combines and camps. I like to pride myself in being a student of the game and putting in work both on and off the field.
During college I do want to major in wildlife conservation or wildlife management. Schooling is very important to me and I do want to learn all I can about the field I plan to go into. I want to attend a school where I can play football and get a good education. Education is one of the most important things in my life and without a good education I don't know where I would be.
