My name is Christopher Gavin, but I go by CJ. I am from Cold Spring, KY and I am a senior at Newport Central Catholic High School. Newport Central Catholic HS (“NewCath”) is a class A school in Kentucky with an outstanding program and a proud history. As a player, I am known for giving 110% every rep, play and down no matter if it’s practice or a game. This past year I was named Most Outstanding Defensive Front Player as well as making all conference. In both my freshman and sophomore years, I was named scout team defensive player of the year. Ironic because as a sophomore, I started at nose guard on the defensive line that helped get us to the state semi-finals. Even as a starter, I would go against our starting offensive line every day in practice to help us prepare. Whatever I can do to help our team win, I will do. This is the kind of effort that will help your program get to the next level.
I am excited for our up coming season. Not only have I grown 2 inches, gained 20 pounds and increased my speed/quickness, but I am also making the switch from nose guard to defensive end. We have high hopes this year as we expect to win state and even though it won’t be easy, I will be one of the upper class men leading the way!
Academically, I am an honor student with a 3.82 gpa and belong to the National Honor Society. I am also involved in the NewCath Drama Club and was the lead in our school play this past year. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and helping coach my younger brother’s football team when I can. I have a serious passion for coaching and would like to eventually move into that one day as well.
Since the first practice of my 8th grade year, my dream has been to play college football. I absolutely love everything about the game and hope to fulfill that dream very soon. I want to take everything this game will allow me to have and apply it to my life post football in coaching. My educational goal is to attend medical school and become a psychiatrist one day. I feel like football is a great outlet for young men and boys to get ahead in life and I hope to use both to reach and help as many people as I can.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I look forward to hearing from you.
