While I enjoy playing all sports—so much so, that I have earned Varsity letters in 4 sports—football, basketball, track, and lacrosse—I’ve loved the game of football for as long as I can remember . . . since I was 7 years old and “wrapped up” my first tackle. Part of my passion for football stems from the fact that it allows me to take my individual motivation and commitment and become a part of something bigger than myself. In football, you simply cannot accomplish anything without each individual working together, selflessly, as one. While my 6’7” wingspan and 10” inch hands may help me physically, nothing compares to what I consider to be my greatest attributes: the grit to persevere through adversity and the relentless drive to help my team in any way possible to achieve success. You can see this work ethic in the positions I play—during my four Varsity seasons as a starter and two as a team captain, I’ve played every single skill position on offense, lined up at corner, safety, middle, and outside linebacker on defense, and am now our punter as well.
Not only am I passionate about the “team” element of football, but I actually enjoy the hard work necessary to this sport and to life in general as well. My older brother has a chronic illness and spends a lot of time in the hospital; watching him miss out on a lot of activities makes me appreciate every moment and opportunity I have. I truly consider it a privilege to work hard on and off the field.
In school, I have a 4.0/4.0 GPA and take as many Honors and AP classes as possible. I am deeply curious about so many things—history and biology, most of all—that I’m really looking forward to college and the chance to pursue these interests in depth and to sample lots of new things, too. I honestly believe that my passion, commitment, and curiosity for football and for school make me an excellent teammate and a better person.
