David Horton '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is David Horton, I love football, ever since I was young I dreamed of playing college ball. As far as where I go, how big the college is, how good the college is, doesnt matter to me, I just want to play the sport I love longer than high school. I have the drive, heart, love, and desire to make myself better and turn myself into a top-notch athlete for which ever college wants me. I started off as a linemen in pop warner and quickly realized thats not where I wanted to be so I ran hills everyday until I lost enough weight and was faster than everyone on my team. My coach moved me to running back and midle linebacker, although I was the best on my team it wasnt enough for me so I kept running the hills and doing things to help build my muscle. Once i hit middle school I started to go to the weight room three times a week and picked up on the things that the Varisity players were doing. During middle school season I stayed at the running back middle linebacker positions and did very well. When freshmen year came the coach saw my potential as a pass rushing defensive end and put me there, I recorded 16 sacks that year. My sophomore year I started being double teamed but still got about 14 or 15 sacks. Junior year I only had 10 sacks in a 3-5-3 defensive system. That made me mad and all off season and all summer I was in the weight room and doing speed training. so far this year i have 3 sacks and over 20 tackels and will be playing my 4th game this week. When I get to college my goals are still high for myself, I want to start as a freshman and compete at the highest level possible wether it be D1, D2, D3 . As for my major I want to major in somthing along the lines of sports medicine, or sports marketing.
