Coaches, simply put I love football and I can’t imagine life without it. The opportunity to continue playing in college is my number one personal goal. Now to achieve that goal, there is a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done. First and foremost, I need to continue to keep my grades up. I wasn’t gifted “smarts” and I require accommodations in school. Some would say that this is a burden, but I consider it a gift from God. I have to work twice as hard to earn a good grade, and I know that this will benefit me in the long run. Next, I need to perform on the field to make my team better. Team success will result in my success. As a captain this year it is my responsibility to mentor the younger kids and to make sure our team is working as hard as we possibly can on and off the field. I am off to a great start and having by far my best summer. I am hitting the weight room harder than ever, and my effort is becoming contagious. Other teammates are stepping up their effort and to think that I had something to do with it, means the world to me. I am so darn excited for the upcoming season it's sometimes hard for me to sleep. Given the opportunity to play for you, I promise you will get a team first kid willing to do anything. When I transitioned from middle school to high school my middle school coach told my soon to be high school coach that “Hoppy will run through a brick wall for you and your team.” I have not changed one bit. I am certain Coach Barnes would say the same. I owe that to my parents and my Christ centered upbringing. You won’t get any lip from me. I carry no ego, and frankly love to hit those that do 😊
Lastly, I am not sure what I want to study. I can see myself being an athletic trainer or maybe even in law enforcement. I know that through prayer that will work itself out. Thank you for taking time to read my personal statement and I hope to have the opportunity to meet you.
God Bless,
Jack Hopkins
