February 2017Personal Statement
I am passionate about kicking and I am committed to playing college football. I thrive under pressure and I enjoy team camaraderie. I am also passionate about academic excellence and earning a strong engineering degree.
In 2016 and 2017, my teammates voted me Special Teams MVP and I was selected 1st Team Big North All-Conference and All Region as a kicker. In 2017, I was also selected 1st Team Big North All-Conference punter and All State HM kicker. I can consistently hit field goals from 45 yards from both hash marks off of the turf and put the ball in the endzone on kickoffs. I averaged just under 40 net yds for punts. I am confident that through effective practice, off-season workouts, camp participation and drill/video work, I will continue to improve. More importantly, I have a 3.8 GPA with honors and AP classes. I scored a 26 on the ACT and a 1240 on the SAT. I am dedicating my senior season to raise money to fight childhood cancer. - The Kohl's Future Stars Invitational is geared towards talented freshman, sophomore, and junior prospects. Kohl's has created this event for younger top performers we believe could be highly recruited in their recruiting class in the coming years. We also will invite the top juniors who were right on the line with getting an invite to UC Challenge.

- Fundamentally solid athlete at all three skills. Always performs consistently. Field goal range is around 50 yards off a 1-inch block, kickoffs are near 60 yards and punts are in upper 30s with hang times in low 4 second range. As Gabe matures and gets stronger, his top numbers will improve.

- Pickett recently attended the 2016 Midwest Winter Showcase Camp. He charted well in punting at camp and showed flashes of solid refinement in his field goals as well. He averaged just under 34 yards per punt with good hang. Continuing to put emphasis on catching the snap and molding the football will be key for his continued punting development. Cleaning up his approach on kickoffs will be key for him to continue to make improvements in his overall kicking ability.
