Personal Statement

Starting on JV as a freshman was the highlight of my freshman career. I feel I grew as a student-athlete due to having a completely new coaching staff, team culture, defenses, and offenses. Through hard work, organizing extra practices, and my devotion to film study, I achieved my goal of being named captain of the 9th grade squad and was 1 of only 4 freshmen selected to play on the JV team. My coaches told me they were impressed at my high football IQ and ability to call the correct defense based on how the offense lined up. These experiences helped me grow as a person and leader on defense, better preparing me to play at the next level. My Junior year, I started on Varsity Defense placing 2nd on the team in tackles for the season. For my Senior year, I'm currently leading the State of Minnesota in tackles at 108! I was also nominated MN Hub Football Defensive Player of the Week twice for 23 tackles vs East View and 16 tackles vs Anoka! (source is MN Hub Football website)

As a 2-sport athlete, I also earned a spot wrestling varsity by winning the 152# weight class and lettering this season. My most memorable match was being down 1-14 in the first period before coming back in the second period and pinning my ranked opponent. Grit, commitment, and perseverance are traits I live and breathe as a student athlete, whether in the classroom, on the field, or on the mat.
