James Gilmartin '18 Recruiting Profile

    The highlight of my nine-year football career was playing in the State Championship game at MetLife Stadium last December.  Although our team did not win, I was so humbled to be playing on the same turf as all my heroes.  That experience has motivated me to take what I have learned from the graduating upperclassmen to lead the team back to the State Championship this year.   I am looking forward to assuming their leadership role to achieve that goal.  I will carry this motivation over to whatever team I have the honor to play for in college.

    I consider myself not just to be a player, but an athlete.   This year, I earned three varsity letters in football, wrestling and track and field (javelin) as a sophomore.   Although football is my favorite sport, I am particularly proud of my wrestling letter because I earned it for my first year wrestling.  All the hard work paid off!  I have also worked hard this year to improve my grades.  I am looking for a college that will help me continue to grow not only as an athlete, but as a student.
