My name is Travis Duncan; I was born in California and moved to New Jersey when I was five. My father is a trauma surgeon and my mother works in upper management. I'm confident and determined in pursuing my dreams and aspirations as a student athlete. I'm also trustworthy, dependable, and respectful. I see myself being a psychologist or coach. I'm often told that I'm easy to speak with, understanding, and, regardless of difference in situation, sympathetic to whomever seeks my help. I also feel I have natural empathy because of the strong foundations given to me by my upbringing and my parents' emphasis on open communication and talking things through. Because of this foundation, I feel that I can better understand someone else's needs and problems. I am able to relate to a lot of people and situations. The career I wish to develop is one in psychology and the operations behind it, and I feel my passion for this career would make me a great addition to your school. I am very interested in majoring in psychology because I am curious as to how the mind works, and college would help me pursue this interest. I'm always trying to learn something new through self-motivated research and by putting myself in new situations and where I can learn from people who know more than I do. For example, despite doing well on my school's football team, I took it upon myself to transfer to private school in order to be challenged more and learn more and (perhaps) pursue a career in football. To continue my pursuit of growth, I'm very interested in the athletic space of college. I come from Fort Lee, where I made the varsity team in my freshman year. That same year, I was presented the MVP award by Tiki Barber (a former NFL player). I have always dreamed of the opportunity to continue playing football in college. It takes a number of assets to play college football and, through practice, I feel as though I'm ready for the next level. Football has taught respect, patience, discipline, humility, unity, perseverance, setting up a plan and executing it, and being a team player. Growing up, I've always been told that I can do whatever I put my mind to and that I was a special athlete. Whether it was a coach, a former NFL player, or other players in general, I was always praised for how hard I worked and how much passion I had. It would change my life to be able to play college football and I'm blessed with the chance I have to pursue the accomplishment of my goals.
