I am in the middle of my senior season. This year I have worked exponentially harder than any other year because I love the game. I was honored by my teammates to be chosen as one of four Co-Captains of our team. We have played some of our biggest adversaries this year so far and have come out on top. As of October 22, 2017 the Phillipsburg Stateliners are 6-0. I am starting on both sides of the ball and have improved my defensive play. Previously I was primarily playing offensive guard and only a little bit of defense. This year has been my best year yet and I am enjoying every minute of it. As a co-captain I am responsible for more than myself. I have the responsibility to assist the coaches and the other three co-captains in managing team issues as well as helping out teammates with personal issues or simply giving a ride home to a player who has no one to give him a ride. I have grown a lot as a man and as a player.
I have maintained my academic standing through the first part of the year to date. I am #10 in my class of 408 with a 5.51 GPA. Because of this, my devotion to football and community work I have been accepted into the National Honor Society and recommended for Lehigh Valley Scholar Athlete by our head coach, Frank Duffy.
We will be going to the play-offs this year and I have every intention of leading our team along with the other three co-captains and our coaches to a title win for our school. I believe that what you think about, you bring about. Having a positive attitude and leading by example I have been able to be an asset to our team and my teammates and coaches.
Obviously, it is my goal to play college in football. I want to become an engineer which narrows the field down tremendously. I keep my eyes on my goals and keep pushing forward until I have achieve what I set out to do. I believe my outstanding character as well as my goal oriented attitude and genuine concern for my team coupled with skill, determination and high academic goals will make me a great choice to be recruited to your team.
June 2016
In reflecting on my sophomore year, I have realized that I prepared myself for a grueling college schedule far ahead of that requirement. This past school year I elected to take two honors math classes - honors geometry and honors pre-calculus which left me with no study hall to complete homework before lifts, practices and games. However, in spite of the schedule, I was able to complete all of my work, play a game I love and finish my sophomore year with high honors - A's and A+s. In addition to the two honors math classes - I also completed honors history, honors English, AP biology and Spanish. At times it was challenging but as stated above, I have found I perform better academically when I am challenged. Going forward - I feel that I am better suited to a career in an engineering field such as bio-engineering or chemical engineering. Though I embrace the entrepreneurial spirit in my heart, I have decided that I would better serve myself by following a path of math and science rather than becoming a chef. While I feel it is still a worthwhile endeavor, I enjoy math and science enough that I want to move forward to the next chapter of my life following that path instead.
