I am currently a Senior attending Watchung Hills Regional High School.
In the 2014 fall season, I was the kicker at the varsity level and was awarded with the Outstanding Special Teams Player Award. I previously played Pop Warner for a number of years but this was my first year playing football at the high school level. In my Freshmen and Sophomore years I played soccer, but I realized I missed football.
Last year, I attempted 8 field goals and made 5 of them. The 5 conversions were from 39 yards, 23 yards, 40 yards, 32 yards, and 26 yards (1 hit upright, 1 high snap). In practice, I convert many 50 yard field goal attempts and on occasion hit 55 yards. Also last year for PATs, I converted on 30 of 33 attempts (2 blocked, 1 missed over upright). In the state of New Jersey I was ranked 8th for total points for Junior kickers even though our team only had two wins on the year.
Football is a team sport that requires the effort and integrity of all 11 players on the field and others off the field. I love the adrenaline rush coming out of the tunnel and seeing all those that enjoy the sport like I do. It’s different from other sports because you need to work more integrated together to push toward the goal you set.
During the spring and summer I attended specialist camps that improved my skills as a kicker. I’m currently training in the gym to become stronger and more flexible and also with Lee McDonald, a former kicker at Rutgers University. In the classroom, I currently hold a 3.7 weighted GPA.
As a player and an individual, I will bring my great work ethic, a determination to get better everyday, and strong kicking abilities to help improve the football program wherever I may play.
