I was there as several of my teammates, high school seniors, played their last game this year and heard their last speech from coach. I watched as they left the locker room with tears in their eyes as another chapter in their life had closed. I do not plan to close the chapter of my football career as a high school senior. I intend to move on and play the sport that has helped define me and motivate me to succeed. Not just on the field but personally and academically as well.
I started off playing flag 10 years ago and moved on to Pop Warner, AYF - where I was elected to play on the All Star Team post season and then went on to high school football where I have been a starter both on the freshman and JV teams; both undefeated. My hobbies and interests do not stop at football, I was also part of the track team last year and have volunteered my time working to help foster children. In addition, I plan to work this summer at a local beach club where I can gain new skills that will help me succeed as an adult.
I realize that many of the skills and talents had helped me succeed in football are going to help me succeed in college and ultimately my career. Football requires a lot of dedication and hard work in order to be successful, it is also very demanding and challenging but when one applies himself there are great rewards. I see college like that as well, both demanding and challenging in regard to a stringent academic schedule but with great rewards (my degree & career) waiting for me at the end.
I'm a determined and motivated person, who will thrive in a university environment and who will commit 100% myself to success both in the classroom and on the field.
