Having played football for over 11 years, since I was 5, I have experienced and overcome many challenges other athletes face. These challenges; such as not feeling good or fast enough, have helped me set a personal goal to constantly improve.
To help me achieve my personal goal I have been working out an average of 6 days a week, and doing workouts that my coaches have sent to me. Both myself and my teammates feel like these workouts have dramatically increased our strength and athletic abilities.
Playing on both defense and offense, I have learned how important teamwork is. Most of my football career I have played as an Inside Linebacker. This position has taught me discipline and given me the knowledge on how to create a productive defense by coordinating and bringing my teammates together. On offense, my position as a fullback has developed my understanding of each of our responsibilities and the importance of our team working together for success.
As I continue to play, I continue to learn. I work close with my coaches and trainers to increase my skills in the positions I play. I love the game and respect my coaches and teammates. I have heart, and there is nothing that can replace that feeling I get before, during or after the game. I strive to be better and will continue doing so. I believe in hard work and working hard. My dedication and commitment to our team is how I became Team Captain as a Sophmore. The principals of football have taught me how important education is either in school or on the field. For as long as I can remember, building something strong has always been interesting to me and understand that strength starts from the ground up. This is what I look forward to in the future and why Engineering has always interested me. Team sport has given me a better understanding how patience, experience and learning impacts your career on or off the field. I look forward to what the future brings and will work hard to achieve my goals.
