When I woke up in the hospital from my shoulder surgery back in October, 2017, my Dad asked the question I never dreamed of hearing, "Eric, do you still want to play football?" My answer, with zero hesitation: "Hell Yes!"
I love football and everything it brings to my life. I started playing tackle in 5th grade, started QB in 6th grade, and have had so many great experiences along the way. I play a great game, with good friends.
The 2017 season was a challenge. I was the only 8th grader on the team and gave up playing with all my buds in 8th grade to attempt to make the JV team with high schoolers I didn't know. It was a risk and while my painful shoulder injury on that broken play in the backfield might indicate I failed - I saw it as a win in earning the starting QB spot for that one game which gave me a direct understanding of the perils of the QB position. I know now, it was a learning experience and I am stronger for it, both physically and mentally.
I went to Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx for high school. I stayed at Fordham through the end of my sophomore year. Due to COVID, I transferred to my local high school, Fox Lane in Bedford NY. Fox Lane delayed its football season from the fall to the spring, so I don't have any junior year football statistics or video. I am concerned about the recruiting process as a result of this.
At Fordham. I played primarily QB and was named Captain in my freshman year. In addition, I played both ways regularly. I'm not afraid of contact and played linebacker, defensive tackle, and defensive end at times.
Freshman season was a year of tremendous growth for me and I played hard and learned a lot.
I was determined to become a better player my sophomore year. So I worked on my strength, speed, and QB skills in the offseason. I dedicated myself to the weight room and making myself stronger while giving myself another year of understanding defenses, looking off receivers, working on mechanics with my throwing coach, and timing my routes better.
In my sophomore year, I was named Captain and earned MVP. I believe I earned MVP not only for my performance on the playing field but also for my hard work on the practice field, my positive attitude, and the confidence my team had in me as a leader who can help the team win.
Since the 2019 season ended, I've grown another inch or two and added some weight. I'm at 6'2" and 200 pounds. I lift with the linemen and I never miss leg day. I've been working informally with the receivers on a weekly basis and on my QB skills.
I have good size, strength, and speed for a QB. My QB skills are good and I'm working to make them better. I'm a grinder who keeps at it, improving in increments. I like to learn and I love to be coached. I bring a positive attitude to the field and I feel it is my job to make the entire team better, one player at a time.
I'm a good student and have good grades. I have the same attitude toward school and my overall life as on the football field.
I'm grateful for all that football has given me in life. I want to play football in college and have an open mind. So, if my profile has sparked an interest in you, I'd love to have a chat.
