Hello Coach. Hope all is well. My name is Walter Lawrence Matthews III., and I've been playing football since I was six years old. I truely love the game and know that I have what it takes to continue to grow, learn, and excel in this game we call football. That being said, even at this point in my football journey, I have been blessed with determination, talent, drive, intelligence, a positive work ethic, a desire to be my best, and a will to win. I truly believe these attributes will allow me to compete and excel on the collegiate level. In 2014, I was invited to showcase my skills, talent, and ability at the FBU/Football University Top Gun National Camp in Dublin, Ohio. There I named an All Star and given the award for Outstanding Performance for Defensive Backs for the Class of 2018.
I primarily play cornerback, but I've been playing safety and some cornerback for my high school Mallard Creek in Charlotte, N.C. for the past two years. My School has won the North Carolina 4AA State Championship three years in a row. Last year we didn't reach our goal, but this year I know I will be very instrumental in us achieving our goal this my senior year. I believe playing and competing at a championship caliber school like Mallard Creek has definitely prepared me for the competition and challenges on the college level. I'm so looking forward to that experience.
I'm very interested in seeing if your football program and my skills and love for the game of football would be a good fit. I'm seeking a school that can stimulate and challenge me in the classroom and on the field. Please advise me on the next step in this process. Thank-you for your time and consideration. Have a great and productive day.
