My name is Kalil Barrino and I’m a junior at WGHS in Greensboro, NC. I would like to be recruited to play collegiate football because I have a LOVE for the game and hope to use this experience to positively influence my siblings, family members and community.
My love for the game began at age 5 when I played peewee football for the City of High Point Parks & Recreation league and has continued throughout my high school career. As an offensive player, I have a natural talent that enables me to excel in the slot and wide receiver positions. Additionally, I am also a talented defensive player as well. I currently have 62 tackles this season and am well on my way towards meeting my goal of 100+ tackles for the 2015 season.
A few of my other highlights include
Defensive player of the year
City of High Point All-Star Football Team
Oakview Cowboys
Off the field I strive to be a leader both in the classroom and the community. My freshman and sophomore years were learning years as I adjusted to managing expectations and responsibilities at school and at home. However, this year I have developed a system that has helped me manage these expectations. This quarter I will have all A’s and B’s thanks to the adjustments I have made. In addition, to school I volunteer at numerous events like Habitat For Humanity and participate in charity walks.
Overall, what separates me from other recruits is that I understand that talent alone is not enough to be successful at the next level. At the collegiate level I will need to continue being a student-athlete, remain coachable and flexible, and continue be a positive influence to my peers, teammates and coach
