Personal Statement

I just completed my senior year as a 6'1", 185 lb. athlete who has had the opportunity to play a variety of positions for my high school. My versatility as an athlete is supported by the various positions that I have played during my high school career. Throughout my three years as a varsity player, I have held the position of linebacker in my soph and junior years and then was switched to a defensive back part way through my senior year because there was a need for more experience that was identified by my coaches. On the offensive side of the ball I have played the positions of running back as a freshman, wing back and receiver as a junior and senior. Basically, my biggest asset is my versitility as an athlete and my good hands...I rarely drop the ball and usually am able to gain yards after any catch. This fact is supported in that I was listed this year as one of 25 athletes in total receiving yards for the region. The region includes some 8 conferences and close to 80 schools. I am a three year letter winner and have improved my football skills each year that I have participated. In my sophomore year, I was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Year award. As a Junior I recieved Honorable mention from area coaches. I have also learned to be a leader and that fact is supported by the fact that I was voted as co-captain of my team this year. I have a great deal of passion for the game, and would be an asset to any program because of my versitility as an athlete. With my body type, work ethic and dedication I can offer any college or university an individual who can play a variety of positions. I know that I have begun the recruiting process late, but I still want to pursue playing competitive athletics in college as I believe that being part of an athletic program will help me to achieve my goals academically. Athletics have always provided me with the structure needed for academic success so I would like to continue this tradition into college. I also believe that I have not peaked athletically and will continue to improve and get stronger because I have such a great desire, good work ethic and tremendous passion for the game of football.
