I think that in order to be the best at something, you got to set the best standards for yourself. Being considered good isn't good enough. In order to fulfill my wish in becoming great at football, I need to put a lot of work in my strength, coordination and balance, speed, and agility. The biggest thing that seems to make athletes great is their mentality. Without a great mentality you lack training, knowledge, confidence, and victory. You cannot expect the best results when you are not working as hard as possible.
I usually played sports my whole life. I played soccer and basketball as a kid but I never thought of football. My 8th grade year I decided to man up and play the sport for the first time. I didn't play much that year but I enjoyed it, I thought of it as a good experience to get me out there more. Same thing happened my Freshman and Sophomore year. I was really angry and upset that I didn't get to play my Sophomore year due to the fact that was supposed to be my year. I made a whole plan for my Junior year and it worked. My bench press increased from 170 to 285 and my squat increased from 305 to 430. With that, my athletic ability improved and my body weight went from 170 to 220. With that hard work I put in the off-season, I got my starting spot on the defensive line and I loved it. I will always have a special place in my heart for my Junior year and it was a great learning experience because now I know what to expect for next season.
Right now, I am trying to get my body weight up to 240 for my Senior season. With that, I am also trying to get my bench press up to 350+ and my squat up to 500+. I have big expectations for myself as I want to be first team all-conference and first team all-state for my last high school football season. Another goal to achieve is to get 15+ sacks and 25+ TFLs. I want to leave my school with a champion mindset, I want to win the state championship.
