I’m different than many high school football players because I did not play football until my freshman year of high school. Once I started playing football, I learned I love it and have passion for it. I have used my passion to motivate me. I hope college will give me the chance to keep pursuing my passion. My work ethic and love for football have helped shape a disciplined routine. That routine includes daily weight training, foot drills, and other training. My goal is to be competitive with my peers.
I feel I’m different from other recruits in character because I attended three different high schools. At each school I had to adjust to new coaches, teams, and plays. I’ve always tried my hardest, done my best, and supported my team even when not on the field. The relocations were challenging but each coach and team helped build my character.
Another way I’m different is my love of learning. I have learned about 3D/CAD design, flying, and languages. I’m also currently learning piano. My hope is to never quit searching for ways to learn.
I had multiple experiences in middle and high school where I was responsible for accepting people's 3D print requests to ensure correct printing. I was also able to lead a small team through a CAD design course and train others to fill my role.
I have been taking private flight lessons. I was told I have a knack for it. So it is now a degree I’m considering pursuing.
I have learned multiple languages. I have 3 years of Spanish, 2 years of Norwegian, and 1 year of Russian. I love comparing and contrasting languages and using them with others when possible.
In conclusion, I would like to acknowledge my uniqueness because of the obstacles I faced and have overcome. I believe hard work and discipline are necessary. I’m using both as I focus on putting on the muscle mass required for my size and position. My freshman year I stood at merely 5’ 9” and weighed 130 pounds. By sophomore year I had put on over 40 pounds of lean muscle mass. I was told during my sophomore year that I would have to be much bigger for the next level. So, I took action by gaining another 40 pounds by clean bulking and working with a personal trainer. Through it all, I was able to maintain my flexibility, speed, and shiftiness. My hope is that a college/university will see where I started, where I am now, and where I can be with continued efforts on my part coupled with support from my school, coaches, staff, and team.
