Marcus Otte '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5' 9" 155 lb kicker and will graduate in spring 2012. My junior year, fall 2010, was my first year playing high school football. During my sophomore year, after a two year break from football, I decided I wanted to return to football and have a positive impact on the team, so I started kicking in the offseason. By the time the 2010 football season started, I had won the position of starting varsity placekicker (kick-offs, PATs, and FGs). I went 21 for 24 on PATs and 4 for 7 on FGs that first season. My freshman and sophomore years, I played golf, basketball, and baseball (started 16 varsity games as a sophomore) for my high school. 

I continued to work and develop my kicking in the offseason and play both football and baseball for my high school. For the 2011 season, I was again the starting placekicker, and due to an injury took over punting duties as well. I signinficantly improved my kick-off distance over last season and kicked 21 touchbacks (42%) on the season. I was named to the 1st team all-conference and all-district (southwest Ohio) teams.

I take my studies seriously and currently have a 4.26 GPA while pursuing honors courses in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I am looking for an opportunity in college that will allow me to combine challenging academics with challenging athletics. While I haven't decided on a major yet, I am most likely to pursue something in engineering or the sciences. I live in southwest Ohio and I am most likely to choose a university in the eastern half of the US.
