Trying to describe yourself while staying humble yet still selling yourself. I think that is one of my best qualities, staying as humble as possible. To me, everything in your life is earned, not given. I understand that everyone has a spot on the team, whether coming to practice every day, understanding that you are there to better yourself, and, more importantly, the team as a whole. So when I have seen teammates, opponents, and even coaches think they are the best and think they should be treated differently from all the other people out there.
Understanding that even the kids who sit on the bench during the games are still a huge part of winning no matter what sport. I know that I personally would appreciate any spot on the team. Even if it isn’t a spot I would have liked to be in, I will be satisfied and will work every day to reach the spot I want. My competitiveness for the game and life is extreme—everything I do throughout the day, I want to be the best I possibly can be. Knowing that there is always someone out there that is better than whatever I just accomplished makes me want to keep going and do more.
Essentially in my own words, I am never “full.” If you beat me, do one more rep, get five more pounds, score ten more points, catch more balls than me, I will get you the next time around. Now one of my worst traits is procrastination on school work. I keep a higher GPA for my 4.0 scale, but there are some days that I could definitely do better and pay more attention. I understand that completely and work on it every day. Not only do I apply myself every day at school and in sports, but I also work a lot. I work in construction with a mentor by the name of Jerry Tonjes. I met him at the beginning of the pandemic.
Whenever I have spare time daily, I work with him, and I attempt to learn as much as I can by helping him in his new and remodeling business. I have made many mistakes doing this but never two times in a row. This is another trait I hold myself accountable for. When I make a mistake and have someone take the time to tell me how to fix it, I try my best never to make that mistake again. Another big trait for me is respect. Respect to me is one more thing that I believe is never given to anyone at some point in their life. They earned or will earn the respect they deserve.
